Supported Environments
GS Fax PRO is fully integrated into your Lotus Notes Network. It allows e-mail users to send and receive fax as easily as they send
e-mails. Users create messages to be faxed in exactly the same way they send an e-mail message. The message including any attached files is routed through the e-mail system to the GS Fax PRO Server for transmission.
The fax server converts the e-mail message into a fax image, prepares the appropriate cover page and delivers the fax. Users are automatically sent a delivery report, including: the delivery date and time,
number dialed, number of pages transmitted and call duration.
Fax being composed using Lotus Notes Client
By utilizing the Lotus Notes infrastructure, GS Fax PRO is able to deliver additional benefits,
including: least cost routing, storing fax recipients in mail directories, shared mailing lists and distribution lists containing e-mail, Internet and fax users. Additionally GS Fax PRO can
automatically deliver inbound faxes into users’ mailboxes.
Fax Reception into Mailboxes GS Fax PRO offers several ways to deal with incoming
faxes: automatic printing, delivery to pre determined e-mail addresses or automatic delivery of incoming fax directly to a user’s mailbox.
Fax automatically received into user’s mailbox.
If your organization uses a programmable telephone switch or ISDN-2, it is possible to
configure GS Fax PRO to deliver the incoming fax to an e-mail address or a network printer associated with the number dialed. This feature, known as DID (Direct Inward Dialing) or
DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency), is extremely powerful for the automatic distribution of facsimile messages.
Domino Gateway GS Fax PRO does not require a special gateway to work with Lotus Notes and is connected to the Notes network as a “foreign domain”. All messages addressed
to the " FAX foreign domain" are automatically forwarded to the GS Fax PRO E-mail account by the Lotus Notes MTA (message transfer agent). The fax sever(s) connects to the GS Fax
PRO mailbox as a regular e-mail user, looking for new messages delivered by the gateway. When a new message arrives for sending, the fax server (s) takes it, converts it into a fax
image, process the transmission and delivers the transaction receipt back to the sender via an e-mail message.
Web Monitoring Users and administrators can view the status of the fax server and fax
queues using a standard Web browser.

Solution Designed for the Enterprise You fax solution will quickly become an important part of your communications infrastructure. With this in mind GS Fax PRO has been
designed to meet the needs of the enterprise and not just the workgroup. By delivering a high quality product, GS Fax PRO offers flexibility, scalability and most importantly: a reliable solution.
All information about the faxes send and received through GS Fax PRO is stored in a central database. This can then be used to generate reports on fax usage for cross billing, capacity
planning and managing your fax infrastructure.
High Availability and Load Balancing GS Fax PRO can be deployed in a High Availability
configuration to ensure maximum availability.
By configuring multiple servers connected in a fault tolerant cluster, GS Fax PRO can deliver
a mission critical solution and support high volumes of fax traffic. GS Fax PRO uniformly distributes the workload across multiple servers in the same fax cluster, enabling maximum
efficiency in any operating conditions.
Least Cost Routing and off Peak Delivery
The GS Fax PRO solution can reduce costs by
sending faxes through least cost routes and by scheduling low priority faxes to be sent at off peak times.
GS Fax PRO chooses the best route (least cost) before sending the messages to the closest
fax server to the intended destination. This feature is highly economical for companies that have offices geographically spread since routing is performed across your corporate WAN,
Intranet or the Internet, eliminating long distance telephone calls.
File & Print and Application Integration The use of Lotus Notes Network as a transport ensures the integration of almost any application with GS Fax PRO. Applications in the
Windows environment are easily integrated using the Lotus Messaging API - VIM.
The GS Fax PRO solution includes Windows printer drivers, allowing the transmission of
faxes from any Windows application through a print command such as File|Print.
